2/18/1836Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa(1836-86), was born early morning in Kamarpukur village in Hooghly district, West Bengal. His real name was Gadadhar Chatterji. He was God-intoxicated Bengali Shakta saint, Guru of Swami Vivekananda. He exemplified the bhakti dimension of 'Shakta Universalism'.
6/25/1998Sikh high priests exonerate the Akali Dal leader and chief of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Gurcharan Singh Tohra, of charges of violating a ``Hukumnama'' (religious edict) issued by the Akal Takht, which prescribed a complete boycott of the members of the Nirankari missions for their ''blasphemous'' activities.

3/12/1992A devastating wave of car-bomb explosions killed an estimated 300 people and injured hundreds more today in the large western Indian port city of Bombay. The first blast ripped through the city's stock exchange building, and minutes later a dozen slightly less powerful explosions rocked the bustling city center.The bomb attacks appeared to have been part of a carefully planned operation.The devices were clearly meant to cause maximum loss of life and damage to property.
2/17/1993Rani Gaidinliu, freedom fighter, social reformer and political leader, died at her native village in Manipur. The British army made a surprise attack on her position and captured her. On 17th October, 1932, Pandit Nehru once wrote ""A day will come when India will remember her and cherishe her"".
