10/26/1930Dr. Waldemar Modecal Haffkine, famous scientist, bacteriologist and professor, died in Paris. He had invented the Cholera vaccine in 1893 and a vaccine for Plague in 1897 at the Grant Medical College, Bombay.
10/26/1930Mian Tansen, a prominent figure of North Indian (Hindustani) classical music and famous singer of Akbar's court, died at Gwalior. Tansen is remembered for his epic Dhrupad compositions, creating several new ragas, as well as for writing two classic books on music Sri Ganesh Stotra and Sangita Sara.
