| 3/20/1925 | Marquess Curzon of Kedleston died this morning at age 66 from complications following an operation. Long a kingpin of the Conservative party, Lord Curzon spent 40 years in public life, serving as Viceroy and Governor General of India and, at the end of his career, as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Though he came close to becoming prime minister in 1923, his aristocratic past militated against him in an era which nominated leaders from the House of Commons. He twice wed US women and enjoyed fame as an author of books about politics and his own travels. |
| 12/11/1998 | Kavi Pradeep (84), poet who received 1998 Dadasaheb Phalke award, dies in Mumbai. He was a patriotic song writer and wrote several immortal Hindi film songs. |
| 6/7/1984 | Indian Army troops, sent to Punjab to quell Sikh violence, stormed the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the holiest of Sikh shrines. More than 400 persons were reported killed in the assault at the shrine, including Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. |

| 11/17/1932 | The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything. |
