Historical Event on 6/9/1964
Lal Bahadur Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India when the country was shocked of Jawaharlal Nehru's death and Indo-China war. Shastri gave the quotation ""Jai Jawan Jai Kisan"" which motivated the war-affected Indians to boost their morale. He remained in this office till he died on January 11, 1966 at Taskent. In his cabinet, Indira Gandhi served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

5/25/1941	Sagarmal Gopa, a devoted patriot and freedom fighter, was arrested in Jaisalmer. He wrote two books ""Jaisalmer Rajya ka Gunda Shasan"" and ""Raghunath Singh Ka Mukadma"" for which he was prohibited to enter in Jaisalmer.
9/18/1803	Puri was captured by Britishers from the Marathas without any struggle.
5/4/1993	Santosh Yadav became the first Indian woman to conquer the Everest twice.
2/2/1967	US President Johnson orders consignment of 2 mil. tons of food grains to be sent to India.
9/8/1962	Chinese army infiltrated in the north-east border of India exceeding the Mac-Mahon line (Tibet-India boundary). This was the first ocassion of Chinese infiltration.
9/8/1962	Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev, was born on Baisakhi in a Khatri family in Talwandi Rae Bhoe in Pakistan, known as Nankana Sahib. Guru Nanak's birthday has been traditionally celebrated on Katik Poornamashi. Althought the correct birth date has been established as Vaisakh 1 (April 14), it will continue to be celebrated on Katik Poornamashi until such time as it is changed to Vaisakh 1. (Most Sikhs in the present day consider themselves members of a separate religion.).
