9/15/1903Admiral Dom Vasco-da-Gama (c.1469-1524)-I, Count of Vidigueira, met the Jamerin of Calicut after arriving in India three days ago at Malabar Coast. He was joined by an experienced Gujarati pilot at Malindi. He was the 6th Governor and 2nd Viceroy of India.

2/23/1946Some 300,000 Indians joined in anti-British demonstrations today in the wake of yesterday's violent riots in the city of Bombay. Indian Navy rebels. A day of terror and rebellion saw Indian Navy members turn against their British officers firing machine guns.
12/27/1976The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members who laid down their lives to repulsed several waves of Japanese attacks. Advance Base Depot is shifted to Jabalpur. The original memorial was erected on 15 April 1946 from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.

10/16/1992Capt. P. K. Sahgal of Azad Hind Fauz died. During the trial at the Red Fort, he said, "Beacuse I wanted freedom for my motherland , I was ready to shed my blood for it." (15-5-97
