Indira Gandhi-led Indian National Congress party lost the 6th general election of India. She resigned as Pime Minister of India.

Recently, it has been established that 8 Company Bombay Artillery survived axing and is now 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery. This day is now celebrated as the Raising Day of the Regiment of Artillery.
6/7/1984Indian Army troops, sent to Punjab to quell Sikh violence, stormed the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the holiest of Sikh shrines. More than 400 persons were reported killed in the assault at the shrine, including Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
