Dharamsala, March 5 (IANS) The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) here on Thursday postponed two international summit due to coronavirus epidemic.

However, the official programme to mark the 57th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day on March 10, the day Chinese troops suppressed the Tibetan uprising in Lhasa in 1959 forcing the Dalai Lama and over 80,000 Tibetans into exile in India and other countries, would be organised but at a low-key.

The postponed programmes were the Global Summit of International Associations -- scheduled in July, and the Global Summit of the International Tibetan Associations on April 2-4, said CTA Information Secretary T.G Arya.

The summit, first such gathering of its kind, was being convened to discuss core issues related to preserving the Tibetan culture, sustaining the Tibetan freedom struggle, reinforcing Tibetan associations and organisations, and strengthening the CTA's ties with the Tibetan communities residing outside South Asia.

The CTA's 5/50 programme will take place as planned August.

Arya also advised the people to follow the health guidelines.

The Tibetan administration-in-exile is based in this northern Indian hill town.
