Kanpur: 25 years ago a tenant had committed suicide in the house of social activist 'Gandhi' alias heroic poet and social worker Sanjeeba. The deceased in his suicide note had written that he was committing a suicide to denounce economic policies of the Government. That incident gave new direction to Sanjeeba's life. After that he began distributing the revolutionary poems written in the heroic style to change the social system, in the streets of Kanpur. Then he began enacting street plays for which he was handcuffed and sent to jail many times.Yet he was not deterred and began raising the voice of the poor through his plays. He organised exhibitions of his poems on the street. He also started YouTube channel 'Sanjeeba' and began highlighting people's woes and slammed Government's faulty policies through his lyrics, music and singing. He continued his efforts to create social awareness and improve the system.

For his crusade against corruption, he was honoured and was given a cash prize of Rs.25 lakh by the Sitaram Jindal group in a function held in Delhi in 2012. Interesting fact is that his drama troupe comprises auto rickshaw drivers, vegetable vendors, small shop keepers, tailors and other common men.

Commenting on completion of 25 years fighting against social injustice, Sanjeeba says "I tried to make people aware of their rights and wake them up from slumber and I will continue to do that. I am immensely happy that I have completed 25 years serving the people. I am happy that I could raise the voice of the poor honestly. No one should be under the wrong impression that whatever I am doing is not being seen."

"Whether it is a leader, an actor, a lawyer, a judge, an officer or a common man, an invisible force or god watches the good or bad work of human beings. The God awards for good work or punishes for the bad work. Sometimes, sons, daughters or wife and subsequent generations suffer. Sometimes even the entire family suffers, due to a curse of god," he added.

About his future plans, Sanjeeba says "I will continue to struggle for the uplift of the poor. No work is wasted in the universe. The people whom we meet have some agenda. I am doing research on the impact of spiritual things on our life."
